This gothic re-imagining tells the story of when Stanley Lambchop and his younger brother Arthur are given a big bulletin board by their Dad for displaying pictures and posters. Where the Wild Things Are and Rango producer John Carls is behind the adaptation, but no writer or director has been attached to the project yet, so stay tuned. Based on the 1964 Jeff Brown children's book 'Flat Stanley'. As for how the character will be brought to life, the film will be shot in live-action with visual effects being used to turn the lead character into a two-dimensional hero within our 3D world (kind of like Sam Worthington). One of the books even has Stanley stopping an art heist by posing as just another two-dimensional painting on the wall. This might seem like more of an inconvenience, but then Stanley realizes he can slip under doors, entertain himself and his brother by becoming a kite, and visit his friends by mailing himself in an envelope. Our hero, Stanley Lambchop, is given a bulletin board by his father to put above his bed only to have it fall off the wall and flatten him in the middle of the night.

Well, now Deadline reports Walden Media, the company behind the adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia series, has picked up the rights to Jeff Brown's series of books which started way back in 1964. Nearly everyone who spent time in elementary school since 1995 should be familiar with Flat Stanley after being forced to craft your own two-dimensional paper hero and send him away with a family member or friend for adventures to share with your class.
